Answering the Call to Slow Down

In the constant hum of modern life, it’s easy to forget the value of stillness. The Handmade Life teaches us that slowing down is not just a luxury—it’s essential for creativity and well-being. When we left Southern California’s relentless pace, we discovered a new rhythm in Florida, where mornings are measured by sunlight filtering through palm fronds and pine trees. This intentional slowing allows us to truly connect with our environment, our work, and ourselves.

Our half-acre property, crowned with a weathered mid-century home, became a sanctuary. Every repair, seed planted, and path cleared reconnected us to the tangible world around us. Here, the whisper to “slow down” became a guiding principle, shaping how we live and create.

At the heart of this sanctuary lies our studio, a place where silver meets flame. Lost wax casting and silversmithing become more than techniques—they are rituals that anchor us to the present moment. Fire, metal, and hand tools combine to form jewelry that is deeply personal, reflecting both the maker’s soul and the inspiration drawn from the surrounding land.

Living slowly also informs our homestead. Raised beds brimming with herbs, vegetables, and loofah sponges provide daily reminders that creativity and sustenance are intertwined. The Handmade Life is about cultivating both—through mindful making, tending the land, and allowing beauty to emerge naturally.
